About Scott Forbes
Scott Forbes is the author and creator of the Survival Human series — a growing collection of nonfiction survival guides and fiction works centered around preparedness, resilience, collapse survival, and the human condition during times of crisis.
His work is built not from theory alone, but from decades of lived experience across military service, emergency preparedness, field operations, search-and-rescue environments, rural self-reliance, K9 operations, and outdoor survival disciplines. Over the years, Scott has worked in demanding environments where decision-making, adaptability, and calm under pressure were not abstract ideas, but necessary realities.
Scott served more than thirteen years in the military, primarily in combat arms and Training related roles, including leadership and instructional positions. Following his military career, he continued working in operational and preparedness-focused environments involving emergency response, training, disaster preparedness, and field operations.
His background also includes founding and operating an international search-and-rescue organization, working extensively with K9 operations and scent-discriminating dogs for law enforcement-related applications, and training human remains detection dogs. In addition to his operational work, Scott has spent years teaching preparedness concepts, emergency response principles, and practical survival skills to others.
An avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and professional dive master, Scott’s experiences across rural environments, field operations, and survival-focused disciplines heavily influence the realism and atmosphere found throughout his writing.
Unlike sensationalized survival media focused on fantasy scenarios or exaggerated tactics, Scott’s work emphasizes grounded realism, practical preparation, emotional resilience, and the psychological realities people face when systems begin to fail. His nonfiction books focus on practical preparedness for ordinary people, while his fiction explores the emotional, moral, and human consequences of survival in collapsing worlds.
Through the Survival Human series, Scott blends practical preparedness knowledge with cinematic storytelling, rural atmosphere, and deeply human themes involving family, endurance, loss, fear, responsibility, and resilience.
